Scinaia pseudocrispa
Description:
Cylindrical, gelatinous but firm, brownish-red fronds, 5 mm wide, 100 mm long,
dichotomously branched from a small discoid base.
Key characteristics:
Firmly gelatinous with cylindrical thallus. Lack of constrictions.
Habitat:
On stones, shells and maërl in the shallow subtidal of southern and western
coasts north to Pembroke in Wales and Galway in Ireland, not common.
Similar species:
Scinaia interrupta is larger and lighter in colour and mature plants
are frequently consticted.
