Gymnogongrus
crenulatus
Description:
É maior que Gymnogongrus
griffithsiae, tem uma ramificação
mais larga e as extremidades redondas.
Cartilaginous, fleshy, flattened, dark red fronds, to 100 mm high, with short
cylindrical stipe from basal disc. Repeatedly dichotomous, branches strap-shaped,
apices rounded, often paler than rest of frond. Reproductive structures (known
as tetrasporoblasts) appear as external wart-like excescenses.
Habitat:
On sand-covered rocks, lower intertidal, southern and western coasts, often
locally abundant.
