Enteromorpha linza

Descrição: alga formada por uma monocamada de células que forma um tubo muito fino. Blades (when sectioned) tubular at least near the base.

Blades are up to 5 mm wide and undulate for upper portions. E. linza is supposed to be long but the relatively short length of this material (i.e. 8-12 cm) may be due to the greater wave exposure on platforms. Many branches, most of which are narrow, arise from the base but a few of these branches quickly come to resemble the wider primary blades. The lower portion (i.e. stalk) below each blade is hollow. Cells in the middle and lower parts of the blade have only 1 pyrenoid. Cells from the stalk are rectangular and 10-20 um in diameter whereas cells in blades are rounded (10 x 10 um).

Upper parts of plant above stipitate base flat with cell layers united (not hollow), or remaining free along entire or a portion of margin
