1997-1999 – Project CLIPE - Climatic Effects on the Ecology of Littoral Fishes (PRAXIS/3/3.2/EMG/1957/95). Participation in the visual censusing of coastal fish assemblages and on biological collection and sampling of fish.
1998 – Participation in the 1999 mission of project CLIPE - Climatic Effects on the Ecology of Littoral Fishes (PRAXIS/3/3.2/EMG/1957/95) to Corvo Island (Azores, Portugal). Contribution in the visual censusing of fish and inventory of marine biota in general.
1999 – Participation in the benthic surveys performed in the Faial-Pico channel (Azores, Portugal) within Project MARÉ “Integrated Management of Coastal and Marine Areas in the Azores” (LIFE-Nature B4-3200/98/509). Responsible for the inventory of marine biota, particularly algae and invertebrates.

2004 – Design, coordination and execution of SWATHROV mission, aimed at collecting swath bathymetry and backscattering data and surveying deep-infralittoral benthic assemblages in the nearshore and shelf of Faial and western Pico (Azores, Portugal).
2004 – Participation in the Bancos 2004 mission, aimed at surveying and monitoring the biological communities of D. João de Castro Bank and Formigas Bank (Azores, Portugal). Responsible for the survey of deep infralittoral assemblages using an ROV.
2005 – Participation in the Ramsgate leg of the Rasse project (English Heritage Project no. 3837), aimed at using high resolution acoustic techniques (sidescan, multibeam, phase-measuring sonars) to develop innovative approaches to rapid archaeological site surveying and evaluation. Control of the phase-measuring sonar survey.
2005 – Participation in the Areias das Flores mission, aimed at surveying the location, volumetry and grain-size of underwater sandbanks of Flores island. Survey assistant.
2005 – Participation in the Bancos 2005 mission, aimed at surveying and monitoring the biological communities of Formigas Bank (Azores, Portugal). Responsible for the survey of deep infralittoral and circalittoral seabed using a drop-down video camera.
2005 – Design, coordination and execution of the DRODOV mission, aimed at surveying deep-infralittoral and circalittoral benthic assemblages on the shelf of Faial island and western Pico (Azores, Portugal) using a drop-down video camera.
2006 – Participation in the Sussex project, aimed at surveying a deep-water archaeological site. Inventory of associated epi- and necto-benthic species.
2006 – Participation in the Azores leg of Greenpeace’s Defending Our Oceans expedition (onboard R/V Esperanza), aimed at obtaining quality imagery of deep-sea biological assemblages and disseminating the Azores case of sustainable deep-sea fisheries management. Assistant in survey site identification, navigation, mapping and biological taxonomy.
2006 – Hydrographic surveying of the seafloor around the CP Valour wreck site (Faial island) using a single beam echosounder.
2008 – Project GREX: Survey design for a multibeam survey of selected features in southeastern Faial island. Participation in the installation and calibration of a Reson 8125 sonar.
2008 – Participation in the Bancos 2008 mission, aimed at surveying and monitoring the biological communities of Formigas Bank (Azores, Portugal). Responsible for the survey of deep infralittoral and circalittoral seabed using the ROV SP.
2008 – Participation in leg 4 (Serreta ridge) and leg 5 (Irving seamount) of EMEPC/Luso/Açores/G3/2008 cruise onboard NRP Almirante Gago Coutinho, aimed at surveying seamount-associated biological communities using the ROV Luso. Responsible for the characterization of biological communities associated to seamount environments.
2009 – Participation in the CoralFish missions (onboard NI Arquipélago in May 2009 and RL Águas Vivas in December 2009) aimed at surveying the biological communities of the Condor seamount and Faial-Pico Passage southern slope (Azores, Portugal). Responsible for the survey of circalittoral biological communities using the ROV SP.
2009 – Participation in leg 4 (São Jorge channel) of EMEPC/Luso/Açores/2009 cruise onboard NRP Almirante Gago Coutinho, aimed at surveying island slopes geomorphology and associated biological communities using the ROV Luso. Responsible for the characterization of bathyal biological communities.
2010 – Coordination of the CoralFish missions to Condor Seamount and Faial-Pico Passage Southern Slope aimed at surveying upper bathyal biological communities using the ROV SP.
2010 – Participation in EMEPC/MARBIS/Selvagens 2010 expedition onboard NTM Creoula and NRP Almirante Gago Coutinho. Participation in the characterization of infralittoral biological communities.
